so fast forward two months later, all my african adventures have taken place and I am back in dreary, grey Chicago wondering how time can fly this fast.

I have been wondering how to tell my story.. do I go chronologically and give a detailed account of every day or do i talk about feelings, emotions and all those mushy things. I'll try to do a little bit of both, let me know if it works.

Lately I've been answering the same question over and over again: How is it down there? How is Africa? And my automatic reply is: wonderful! then I have to elaborate. Where do I begin: it's green, it's lush, people are kind, warm and welcoming, they don't make one feel like the rich, obnoxios colonialists coming to sniff around. why do instinctively give that response? why don't I talk about the dirty hospitals, the dusty roads, the potholes. That's Africa too. Why don't I shame my fellow colonialists in remembering the conditions 80% of the world live in? 'Cause I'm an optimist! Ha!

Maybe because in the face of gloom and negativity people turn off. It's not like it's news that Africa is poor. It's been done before. The surprise is when it becomes a point of attraction because of its beauty, its majesty, it's wonderful inhabitants. So I surprise them....

Bam!
